Diving options for Beginners

If you are thinking of learning to dive but are not sure how to go about it, contact us and discuss, with no obligations, what we can offer you. We will take care of everything you need to ensure your diving course is as safe, fun and enjoyable as it could possibly be - all you need to do is show up with a sense of adventure and be prepared to put a smile on your face.

We offer an exclusivity option which allows you to book our instructor so that he is exclusive to you or your group for the duration of the course. This allows you to be guaranteed you receive that little bit more attention, should you feel you need it. We also offer special packages for families and groups looking to learn to dive together.

DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING

PADIDiscover Scuba Diving begins with a FREE TRY DIVE in the swimming pool to give you an introduction to breathing underwater, in the comfort of waist deep water. We introduce you to some basic underwater skills you will need to learn before you go into the open water.

  • Minimum age for Discover Scuba Diving is 10 years old
  • The FREE Swimming pool session lasts 20-30 minutes and gives you the opportunity to make sure you are comfortable breathing underwater before committing yourself to going into the sea.
  • The DSD experience consists of 2 Open Water Dives under the supervision of one of our excellent Instructors to a maximum depth of 12m
  • Adults and children can take the Discover Scuba Diving experience together, so it is fun for all the family.

Instructing the DSDYou will learn basic safety concepts and try out the equipment used for scuba diving. You will then be ready to take a trip to one of the fantastic dive destinations around Koh Samui, where you will make your first dives to a maximum depth of 12m, and discover the fantastic Underwater World.

The day begins around 7.30am when we pick you up from Ghost Pipe Fishyour resort and take you to meet up with your Instructor. We then take you by speedboat to the beautiful island of Koh Tao, which is about 1 1/4 hours away.

In Koh Tao there are some fantastic bays which are ideal for beginners to experience diving for the first time, with clear blue water and lots of marine life for you to see. For your first dive, we usually go to a bay which allows you to walk into the sea from the beach, helping you to slowly Clown Anenome Fishbuild up your confidence.

After you have completed the first dive we take a break for an hour or so when we serve lunch, which you can eat on the boat or on the beach. After lunch we move the boat to another fantastic dive site to make your second dive.

We arrive back to Koh Samui around 3.30pm.

Discover Scuba Diving is not a certification, but it is registered with PADI. After completing Discover Scuba Diving, many divers decide to repeat the experience Student making a Giant Stride into a new Adventureeither immediately, or on other occasions in different areas.

Others decide they enjoyed the experience so much they choose to become certified divers by enrolling in a PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver course. One Discover Scuba dive can be credited towards the PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver Certification if you take the course within 12 months.

It is an ideal way to find out if you like diving enough before taking the next step of the adventure with the Scuba Diver or Open Water Course.

PADI SCUBA DIVER

PADIThe PADI Scuba Diver Course is ideal for people that want to obtain a diving certification but don’t have time to complete the Open Water Course, or just aren’t sure if they are ready for the Open Water Course. It is also ideal for those interested in diving in groups guided by a PADI Professional. It invites these divers to experience diving and encourages them to continue training to the Open Water Diver level and beyond. The Scuba Diver Course is also a good way to introduce children to the underwater world and begin their adventure.

  • The minimum age to begin the Scuba Diver Course is 10 years old.
  • The course takes 2 days to complete, plus some independent study
  • Upon completion of the course you will receive a certification to dive anywhere in the world with a PADI Professional to a depth of 12m
  • There are 2 Open Water Dives required for certification
  • You can easily upgrade from Scuba Diver to Open Water at a later date

e-RDP MLDay 1 starts at 10am when you meet at the classroom to review the knowledge development modules with one of our Instructors. Our Instructor will take you through the basic theory of diving and some basic safety concepts, which are both good to learn before you go into the open water. With your Instructor you will use the PADI Manual, which is yours to keep after the course. To assist your learning you will also watch the first three modules of the Learning in the poolPADI Open Water DVD. This gives you a better understanding when you dive of what is happening and why!

We normally break for lunch around 1pm returning about an hour later to show you how to set up your equipment.

And now the fun begins. We go to the swimming pool where you will put into practice the things you learnt in Rabbit Fishtheory during the 3 confined water dives.

The day usually finishes around 4.30-5pm.

The following day we will pick you up at 7.30am for your first diving adventure. Your Instructor will go through the equipment assembly with you before we then take you by speedboat to the beautiful island of Koh Tao, which is about 1 1/4 hours away.

The first dive is a nice relaxing dive to get you used to being underwater and using the equipment.

LogbookAfter you have completed the first dive we take a break for an hour or so when we serve lunch, which you can eat on the boat or on the beach.

After lunch we move the boat to another fantastic dive site to make your second dive. During your second dive you will repeat some of the skills you practised in the swimming pool, which you are required to perform for certification. The maximum depth of the dives will be 12m.

We arrive back to Koh Samui around 3.30pm where you will complete your paperwork and fill in your logbook. We will need 2 passport size photographs to process your certification.

OPEN WATER DIVER

PADIThe PADI Open Water Course is the most popular Beginner level scuba diving course. The course teaches you everything you need to know about diving safely, the equipment you need for diving, dive planning and how to have an unlimited amount of EXCITEMENT and FUN!!

The course opens the way for you to discover the underwater environment and can lead you into a whole new world of adventure and maybe even into a new way of living your life – we all started with the Open Water Course!!

  • The minimum age to begin the Open Water Course is 10 years old.
  • The course takes 3 or 4 days to complete, plus some self-study
  • Upon completion of the course you will receive a certification to dive anywhere in the world with a Certified buddy, to a recommended depth no deeper than 18m
  • There are 4 Open Water Dives required for certification
  • The Open Water Course is the first step of the ladder to a whole world of possibilities, including the Adventure Diver and Advanced Open Water Course

RDPDay 1 follows the same schedule as the PADI Scuba Diver Course, completing the first three modules of theory in the morning before learning the skills during 5 confined water dives in the swimming pool after lunch.

The day usually finishes around 4.30-5pm

On the second day you return to the classroom at 10am to complete modules 4 & 5 of the knowledge development, including the final exam. The day is shorter than day 1 and usually finishes around 1pm. If you Open Water Dives in Mango Bay, Koh Taochoose to complete the Open Water course in 3 days you will need to fit knowledge development 4 & 5 into days 1 & 2.

The following day we will pick you up at 7.30am for your first diving
adventure. Your Instructor will go through the equipment assembly with you before we then take you by speedboat to the beautiful island of Koh Tao, which is about
1 1/4 Happy Diver hours away.

The first dive is a nice relaxing dive to a maximum depth of 12m to get you used to being underwater and using the equipment.

After you have completed the first dive we take a break for an hour or so when we serve lunch, which you can eat on the boat or on the beach.

Bouyancy skillsDuring the 2nd dive of the day you will repeat some of the skills you practised in the swimming pool, which you are required to perform for certification.

We arrive back to Koh Samui around 3.30pm.

Day 4 (or 3) also begins with a pick up at 7.30am. Again we take you out by speedboat to complete your two remaining open water dives. Again you will repeat more Logbookof the skills you learned in the pool, but this time you will dive to a maximum depth of 18m. Which dive sites we choose for the second day depends on how comfortable you are and what the conditions are like at that particular time.

Once we are back on Koh Samui you will complete the paperwork, fill in your logbook and receive your temporary certification card.

We will need 2 passport size photographs to process your certification.
