If you are thinking about taking the Advanced Open Water Course and it’s been a while since you completed the Open Water Course the PADI Reactivate Program gives you the opportunity to refresh your Open Water Course skills and knowledge back to the level they should be before taking the next step. Being an Advanced diver you will be expected to know the basic open water skills such as how to set up your equipment, how to conduct a proper pre-dive safety check, etc.

To complete your Advanced Open Water Course you need to complete 5 adventure dives. The Deep and Navigation dives are mandatory then you can choose another 3 from the following list: Fish Identification, Enriched Air (Nitrox), Boat Diving, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Digital Imaging, Search & Recovery, AWARE Shark Conservation, Dive Against Debris, Wreck Diving, Recreational Sidemount and a few more if conditions allow.

  • advanced-open-water-courseThe minimum age to begin the Advanced Course is 12 years old and you must be at least an Open Water or Junior Open Water diver.
  • The course takes 2 days to complete, plus some independent study.
  • Upon completion of the course you will receive a certification to dive anywhere in the world to a maximum depth of 30m.
  • You can link selective PADI Specialty Courses in with your Advanced Open Water Course, saving valuable time and money.

If you don’t have two days to spare to complete the Advanced Open Water Course you could complete 3 of the adventure dives listed above in just one day and get certified as a PADI Adventure Diver. Fitness for Diving: to make sure you are Medically fit to take part in the Advanced Open Water Diver Course you will need to complete a Medical Statement. Should you answer YES to any question, you will need to seek medical clearance from a physician before we can take you diving.

We schedule a short theory review session at our dive centre a day or two before your dives to make sure you know everything you need to know about the Adventure Dives you are going to do. padi-advanced-open-water-courseBoth dive days begin around 7 – 7.30am when we pick you up from your resort and take you to meet up with your Instructor. We then take you by speedboat to either Koh Tao, which is about 1 1/4 hours away, or to the fantastic Sail Rock which is about 50 minutes from Samui (see our Dive Sites page), where you will make your 3 dives. On one of the two days on the boat you will make 3 dives and on the other you will make 2 dives. Lunch will be served in between dives, which you can eat on the boat or on the beach at Koh Tao, and on the boat at Sail Rock. After lunch you will make either your second or third dive of the day. We arrive back to Koh Samui around 1.00pm from Koh Tao and about 3.30pm from Sail Rock, when you will complete your paperwork and fill in your logbook with your Instructor.
